GOVAN is EXTREMELY EXCITED to welcome Russ Nassof, JD back to Columbus. Russ will be our speaker for the evening and if you have not heard Russ speak in the past, you are in for a REAL TREAT!!! As clinicians, we continue to struggle with maintenance of Vascular Access devices and IV infiltration is one of the highest complications we encounter. Russ will walk us thru this challenging issue as he presents, "The Perfect Legal Storm: Navigating the Minefield of IV Infiltrations" with the following objectives:
1) LEARN how post-COVID staffing shortages and clinician fatigue have impacted IV therapy.
2) IDENTIFY IV infiltration/extravasation risk events, liabilities, and how to navigate the minefield.
3) REVIEW the clinical standards and how they impact the potential legal basis for negligence claims against the hospital and the clinicians.
4) DISCUSS real world legal cases and how technology can help mitigate patient harm and reduce provider liability AND COSTS.
